Thursday, April 8 Just an update from me before I start work tomorrow! It was quite an adventure for me today as I went to 3 places that I've never been to! First stop was at NTU School of Humanities & Social Sciences. I was there for the Linguistics & Multilingual Studies (LMS) programme interview. The trip was rather smooth because I know where to alight, and it helps that the school is easy to spot from the bus stop. Being me, I walk around the school aimlessly to kill time because I don't like to arrive at the Senimar Room too early. At 12.10 (the essay test is from 12.15 to 12.45), I noticed a group of people already inside writing something. I thought it was the school's students so I waited till 12.15, but nobody came out from the room. I continued to wait and attempted to go in at 12.30, but the door was locked! I panic and thought about going home since I may not be able to take the test. Then at 12.45 the person-in-charge came out and I asked her about the test. Luckily she allowed me to take it since the interview is at 1.40pm. And you know what? The door is not locked!! I couldn't open it because the door is HEAVY! OTL Anyway, the essay qn was "Do you think it is possible for people to think without involving language?" So I crap my way through.... At about 2, I had an individual interview with the Teaching Fellow. She asked a lot of qns but the most memoriable part (near the end of the interview) was: TF: Do you have any questions to ask me. Me: No. TF: Ok I have a few more questions to ask you. Usually that qn is reserved for the last part but she continued to ask more qns. But overall she was alright. [fastforward >>] After that I went to Octagon to get my contract signed. [fastforward >>] Then I proceeded to the company that I'll be working at to familiarise with the travelling route. Alighted at Toa Payoh and took 238 to the place. After I alighted from the bus, I couldn't find the place and nobody knows what I'm looking for. So I decided to take a cab. The uncle also didnt know, but he called his colleague. In the end, the place was very near the place where I board the cab! OTL I paid $7 for the cab... The building is opp BCA Academy. When I alighted from the bus stop I could see the company building but it didnt have the name on it!! The name is facing the other side so I didn't know that was I was looking for! :/ So much for today. Hope I won't get lost/be late tomorrow cause bus 238 takes a slightly longer time to reach the place, so I don't know if I wanna stick with it. Wish me luck!! |
